Save Goa Petition

Goa, a sweet home for some and a very pleasing beauty for some. Well, if you have visited/read/part of it, you simply can't ignore the nature's gift.

And then there are these filthy people who are in the race to destroy its charm, destroy the essence, to make it unpopular by supporting incorrect events.

Recently Goa has been going around with lot such events with the ministers grabbing land, unorganized mining activity, destroying peace and harmony of the people by unorganized/unwanted construction activities like mega housing projects, SEZ and lot more.

Its time for the people to come together and stand for a cause. The Torch has already being ignited and we need your support to keep it burning.

So, if you believe in the rationale of democracy or to the social cause where goons are trying hard to take over people; and to the son's of soil , sign the petition.

Lets get together, join hands to save a beautiful state from the goons to show what the people power is.
Signing this petition makes you the supporter for people power in a democracy so that a secular community is formed for a single cause !!

Regional Plan 2021

After lots of opposition to many of the points presented in RP 2010, by the people of Goa, by rationale, the task force has done a great job in sorting it. RPG-21 indeed provides these clarifications but fear is that I still cant believe the bureaucracy. I hope the heritage of Goa is preserved and its our job to look upon it.

Winds of Change

Nothing with life remains constant. People, Places, Things keep changing. Some people like it and some don't. Well, the more prominent changes are triggered by people themselves. The two most important things we notice often is the change in person and place. A internal change is essential for a person to adapt to the environment; only when it scales positive. A change in place is something which should be subjected to local environment and the sentiments of the people in that area.
The time is king here!!. All the moments, we can only re-collect, some making us laugh, some happy, angry and some cry. And may be for all good reasons, I don't wear a watch :)

If that glass didn't break, if that event didn't happen, if that mistake didn't happen, if that ....
I wonder if things* didn't change with time; ohhh man!!, it dosen't sounds good. And the Scorpions have done a very good justice to their song.

* - Conditions Apply - to the set which you can think at this moment.

Learning Tall

It is said that learning never ends, and it proves itself. The more you learn, there is more to learn. I wonder to my greatest imagination, so much to learn for me in all aspects of life; and for the sorry state to people who miss it either by avoiding or by circumstances. For this article, I don't consider circumstances as a reason, for it may be governed by financial/orthodox condition.
I feel the main factor affecting ones stature/credibility is his knowledge and this is gained in whatever form available viz schooling or by experience. My main intention with saying this is that, I feel, teachers and the social environment of a child play a very important role in shaping his life.

During schooling, the mind is still under process of developing views etc and if a teacher is able to influence with a social aspect such as positive-attitude, helping-nature, environment-awareness or with technical aspect indulging in live experiments or with any form of art, it is a boon and boost to the student. The thinking process starts within the student towards the direction of his interest which leads to a human of greater understanding in an area.

The social environment with respect to the mates/people and home atmosphere(to certain extend) also influences on student learning ability. The flock one moves with or the social atmosphere involved in, makes one think out of box towards constructive work which really impacts on future.
For that matter, most of us have a one teacher (school/family/friend) who has influenced our lives for what we are today. As of me too, in school, a marathi language teacher - Mr Lau Phadte really made me think on social things with his explanation thru the beautiful/meaningful poems. Another teacher, Mr.Joshi teaching maths class, really pushed me to high gear of efforts simply by explaining the fact that anyone can be so-called 'scholar' by putting some extra efforts and focusing on goal and emphasizing that there is no distinction whatsoever.

In my small way to make a difference, I too indulge in teaching , initially started with Parikrma Foundation and now at Unnati Foundation as volunteer and believe me, it is fun teaching -- teaching to stand tall !!

No Rule zz!!!

Many places in our daily lives we find that the rules are not followed, be it traffic, driving vehicles and many in general; and the worst part is that we think nothing can be done to correct it and hence even the people who think that breaking the law is bad, even many times do break telling themselves - its just one time OR why not me if all others can!!
There are two main occasions where I seriously feel the need of law enforcement.

1.If a goods carrier is carrying goods which are not hold tightly to the vehicle, it can be a serious risk to the riders behind these carriers. The other day, my colleague narrated a incident where his neighbors, both earning members of the family died on the spot, just because they were behind a overloaded truck carrying sugarcane, which wasn't tied properly. Here nobody can be hold responsible, not even the company as it would say that material was not yet part of their company. Can be risk our lives for such a silly mistake. There is a rule on overloading the trucks but it is fairly skipped.
According to Law:
Section 194. Driving vehicle exceeding permissible weight.
1[(1) Whoever drivers I a motor vehicle or causes or allows a motor vehicle to be driven in contravention of the provisions of section 113 or section 114 or section 115 shall be punishable with minimum fine of two thousand rupees and an additional amount of one thousand rupees per tonne of excess load, together with the liability to pay charges for off-loading of the excess load].
(2) Any driver of a vehicle who refuses to stop and submit his vehicle to weighing after being directed to do so by an officer authorised in this behalf under section 114 or removes or causes the removal of the load or part of it prior to weighing shall be punishable with fine which may extend to three thousand rupees.

section 113. Limits of weight and limitations on use.
(1) The State Government may prescribe the conditions for the issue of permits for 1[transport vehicles] by the State or Regional Transport Authorities and may prohibit or restrict the use of such vehicles in any area or route.
(2) Except as may be otherwise prescribed, no person shall drive or cause or allow to be driven in any public place any motor vehicle which is not fitted with pneumatic tyres.
(3) No person shall drive or cause or allow to be driven in any public place any motor vehicle or trailer-
(a) the unladen weight of which exceeds the unladen weight specified in the certificate of registration of the vehicle, or
(b) the laden weight of which exceeds the gross vehicle weight specified in the certificate of registration.
(4) Where the driver or person in charge of a motor vehicle or trailer driven in contravention of sub-section (2) or clause (a) of sub-section (3) is not the owner, a Court may presume that the offence was committed with the knowledge of or under the orders of the owner of the motor vehicle or trailer.

2. Some vehicles use full light and not the dipper even if it is not required or even if the the opposite rider indicates that it troubles him/her by flashing lights full and dipper. I experience it almost everyday as the way I travel, one part of it doesn't have lights and next to the road is little empty land with bushes and besides it is railway track. Once I was about to bang a cab, as he didnt reduce to dipper and I had to drive just by guess. If somebody dies due to this scene, what can be considered as a root cause? is it the person who got blinded due to light from opposite vehicle drove improperly? I don't find any law for this...

SEZ, IT Park, Commercial complex, Mall == Development ?

Well, if I keep a debate on this topic, there are a lots of pros and cons.
Problem solving in software(loosely) engineering is such that a single solution cannot
be used at all places, hence there is requirement gathering , analysis and design followed by
implementation. My intention of specifying this is because a lot of people talk of SEZ, IT park,
Commercial complex and Mall pros to be set-up in Goa. One basic question to answer is, Does Goa need it?

I have a friend (Non-Goan), who likes(not clear on what) Goa and says he would like to own some land and build something. Later, I asked him as to what exactly he likes and got the answer as the picturesque serenity and calm nature. This was the answer I was waiting for, so I questioned him, If all people like you do the same thing what you desire, will you be able to see the same thing after ..? There was a pause..

Goa is a tourist destination for major part of India and other countries too. But for average earning Indian, Goa is the best place to visit economically. What if in Mauritius and Switzerland too, there were mega housing, SEZ projects? The place would get crowded, roads would become busy and noisy, beautiful piece of land would have acquired. Would then anybody(tourist) visit these places?????

If a average earning Goan want to build his own house after years & years of saving, there is no land/ or a a very high price; the Mega Housing Projects developed are not at all affordable.

A tourist destination should remain same with respect to serenity so that many generations can enjoy the same view and not high rise buildings on the hilltop.
There are industrial estates where companies can be set-up, tourism is the main sector of source of income for many, pharmaceutical also operate in Industrial areas, IT engineers can and are ready to work at IT hubs of the country..

Something which is not required is being carried out, too make extra(lots) of capital and the shameful part is that the money-eaters majorly the hungry politicians are enjoying the extra cushion in their couch.

A humble request to all the people to think on this and save a state from our country from loosing its charm..

My Beautiful Goa

Least as many must have jotted down about Goa it is different for every individual who is part of it.
If I start thinking all of it, this page won't be sufficient. But still feel like noting few events.
My childhood as been in the village of Goa-Velha, and as I say it I can feel the warmth it has. Its the fragrance, the warmth and the feeling it gets you. I remember going to High School at Peoples in Panjim by the 'kethoba'(name of the bus) bus with the fare of Rs:1.50 (cant recollect exact).
The most interesting part was walking from the home to the village busstand and back from busstand to home.
There was(is) a tamarind on the way from the busstand to home. And I had real good interest in eating those, so had to stone them down. And when the stones(which can be throne) were not available, had to return without one.
Also there was a small shop at the corner of the church, it was kind of open, basically 2 parts, one to store the extra items and other for unrelated things. Its like most houses in Goa would have a spare area (also called as kopshi/khope) were many unnecessary things are stored which may aid you sometime for example some wooden pieces, an axe or some copper wire etc. Ok, back to shop; so just a little ahead of those compartments was a display stand, which had the glass utensils containing chocalates, mints and others among the 'roll-aa-ka-cola', man, that was amazing. On saving some few bucks mostly like a rupee or two, I would be proud owner of one. One more thing I liked was a pepsi, no its not the pepsi you know but the small freezed sweet drink filled in a small plastic cylinder. It had many flavours too. There was one for Rs:0.50 and Rs:1.
During rains, was the best part of that walking. The sand road which led to my home had small slopes and water would flow down and believe me it was clear, transparent. I would always put my leg in the flow to feel it. The water felt nice to the bare feet, which were only covered by a small rubber payal, mostly worn for school.
Ohh man, it was all fun...
